Not to sound like a creeper but I was looking up pictures of Hirakata n tumblr and I came across your blog and yeah, just wanted to say hi because I'm at Kansai Gaidai studying abroad for the semester too :)

Hi!  Not creepy at all, haha, that’s why I tag it like I do :)

I’ve been getting lazy with updating…but thanks for the shout out!

If you wanted to say hi, I sit at the couches in the CIE lounge a lot and I have a Glee bag.

So I know it’s been a while

and sorry.

I just haven’t been doing all that much….The most exciting thing in my life right now is my recent purchase of Harry Potter 1-6 in Japanese last Monday.  I’m already on page like 55 which is so ridiculously exciting.  I’m chronicling my adventures reading it on a new blog I made expressly for it, if y’all didn’t already know.

On Saturday I went to Osaka to eat at Shakey’s and partake of their all-you-can-eat pizza etc. buffet.  The pizza was weird Japanese pizza (corn, shrimp, corn, octopus, corn, different forms of pork, corn, and some more corn, and mayo, lots of mayo), but they had these fried potato medallions that were delish as shit, and I ate far too much of those.  There was also fried chicken and spaghetti and curry and these to-die-for chicken meatballs.  The pizza was like the worst part.  Also we got in for only ¥990 which is incredibly cheap for 食べ放題.

Afterwards we went and walked around Denden Town, which I guess is like the otaku neighborhood of Osaka or something.  I was mostly bored and about to vomit from all the food I’d eaten, but I did buy a Gizamimi Pichu watch for ¥100 that matches an Emolga one my friend has, so in my book the outing was a success.

Other than that, I haven’t really been up to much.  I wanna go different places, but I don’t wanna go alone and none of the people I hang out with regularly have made any plans, so…blah.  But me and a girl here are probably going to go to Tokyo Disneyland one weekend in November.  Pretty gosh durn excited for that shiz.  I’d go alone if I had to, but we both seem to be the people who most wanna go, so we’ll just have a Disney fangirl good time and nuts to everyone else.

Anyway.  Kay I’m gonna play Golden Sun and read HP now ttyl.

So I'm a Gaidai alum and reading your posts make me wish I was there again so bad. Reading about the social issues you're having brings up feelings I remember all too well and it hits me like a punch to the stomach. Trust me when I say it's something every single person there is feeling. They just aren't talking about it. Even on the hard days, live it up. Cause you'll miss it like hell once you're gone. Going to commence anonymously reading and living vicariously through your posts.

I know you’re probably totally right.  I am having a good time, but at this point I’m just worried I won’t visit as many places as I’d like to haha.  Of course I have my bad days, but I find more reasons than not to enjoy myself.

I’m tickled somebody is reading my posts!  By all means, live as vicariously through me as you want, but don’t be afraid to come off anon!  Although if you don’t have a tumblr, then oh well.

I was going to write a post tonight about my weekend (long weekend—today was 運動会 or something), but the Canadians threw a huge Canadian Thanksgiving Day dinner and I went out and bought Harry Potter in Japanese, and at this point it’s looking like that post might have to wait till tomorrow.

Anyway…thanks for the message!  I appreciate it :)

Osaka: McDonald’s and Drag Queens

Last night I went to a gay club in Osaka called Explosion.  We left for Osaka at like 7:30 and got back at like 6:30 in the morning so.  We had a good night.

It was interesting to say the least to experience a gay club in Japan.  They mostly played American music but it was all one blurred-together dance mix thing (I mean it was a gay club) and I didn’t even recognize half the songs.  I don’t exactly go clubbing all the time in America, so I don’t have a good frame of reference, but like, I don’t think playing two Glee songs is customary.

The drag queens were…interesting.  Their makeup was adequately good, but the rest of their get ups were kind of amateurish.  I figure it’s ‘cause drag is kinda underground here and they probably don’t ever rise above what would pass for average-ass drag in America.  Only one had tits, and only for one of her performances.  They didn’t tuck.  Like.  At all.  I don’t know if they don’t care here or if they were just jank, but like.  I tried not to be mortified.  They just crushed everything in the bodyshaper and whatnot, but like.  It’s not that hard to tuck, y’all.  One of them reenacted that scene from Titanic when Rose thinks about jumping off the ship, and when she screamed for help, the drag queen had flan put on her forehead and the issue was she had to get in her mouth using only her face.  It was hilarious.  It was also all in Japanese of course, by the way.

We ate at McDonald’s twice during the night and we ended up eating on a nasty deserted staircase in the station at 5 in the morning while waiting for the trains to start running.  It was pretty special.

We were so giggly on the train ride back.  There was a creepy guy with a cheeto-shaped mouth who looked like the thing from Jeepers Creepers, and some lady got on the train and she had a bug on her and instead of telling her of course we just sat and giggled.  No shame.

Things I am doing this weekend

  • 飲み放題 (all you can drink)
  • a gay club called Explosion

yeah

According to jisho.org, there is a specific word (杉花粉症) for an allergy to Japanese cedar pollen.  There are no words for other specific plant’s pollen allergies.  So I’m probably not alone in my misery.

So Natsuki checked the jisho and it’s official.  I must be allergic to Japanese cedar.  Apparently they’re ejaculating into the air right now or something and I’m dying.  It’s terrible.

I’m basically high on illegal cold medicine (DayQuil).  Hear that mom?  I’m doing illegal drugs smuggled into the country.

I got like three hours of sleep last night ‘cause my allergies are acting up for the first time in years.  Creys today’s going to be a long day.
